Anton Mordasov

Anton Mordasov came to international attention in 1990 when he won a gold medal at the Rachmaninov International Piano Competition and bronze medal at the IX Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition, both in Moscow. He was a student of the legendary Tatiana Nikolayeva at the Moscow State Concervatoire and after her sudden death in 1993 he became a student of professor Sergei Dorensky. In the 1990s Anton played in Switzerland, England, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Japan, United States, Canada, Spain, France, Portugal, Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, and Russia, including such venues as New York’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Royal Festival Hall , Milan’s Sala Verdi, Munich’s Herkules Hall, Montreal’s Place des Arts, Osaka’s Suntory Hall, The Great Hall of Moscow Concervatoire, New York’s Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, and Fort Worth’s Bass Performance Hall. In 1991 the grandson of Sergei Rachmaninov invited Anton to perform a solo recital at Villa Senar in Hertenstein, Switzerland. In 1996, Anton won the gold medal at the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, OH, and was the top prize winner at the Montreal International Piano Competition. In 2001, Anton received his Artist Diploma from Texas Christian University. Anton teaches at the Music Institute of North Texas and has served as pianist at Vista Ridge UMC since 2008. He and his wife, Vita, live in Lewisville.
