When Grace Offends
A woman enters a Pharisee’s house uninvited. She weeps at Jesus’ feet, washing them with her tears, and drying them with her hair. Her love is extravagant, reckless even. But Simon, the host, is furious. Why is it so hard to accept grace when it’s freely given? Jesus tells a story about two debtors—one who owed little and one who owed much. Only one of them understands what forgiveness means. What if our love for Jesus is tied to how deeply we know our need for grace?
