Following are ways to support our community partners during this uncertain time of COVID-19. Support Rockbrook Elementary through Communities in Schools and the Christian Community Action (CCA) Food Pantry.
Communities in Schools
Sometimes school is the only, or primary, place where students are fed on a consistent basis. With school being out for an unknown about of time, a big concern is that some students may go hungry. With that in mind, the Lewisville ISD is providing grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches for students in need. Rockbrook Elementary is a feeding site. Communities in Schools is filling the gaps for families in the evenings and on weekends, as well as for those families who may be unable to pick up the meals the district is providing due to a lack of transportation and work commitments.
To help with this initiative, drop off food items at their central office from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Amazon orders also are being accepted during these times/days as well.
Christian Community Action (CCA) Food Pantry
Our church continues to support the food pantry the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Volunteers are handing out food through a drive-thru system from 5:50 to 7:30 p.m., with social distancing between volunteers. Anyone age 16 and older can help. The food pantry is considered an essential service, thereby allowing volunteers to leave the stay-at-home order to assist the nonprofit organization. To work on May 11, email Marie Conrath-Bates at [email protected].
Donation Needs: Canned Meat, Cereal, Instant Oatmeal, Jelly, and Paper Goods
Donations can be dropped off at the CCA Food Pantry during operating hours or mail a check to CCA (designate food pantry). Orders through Amazon also are being accepted during operating hours.
